003 Build Your Own Circuit Simulator
SIMULATOR Runs on your device. Not a real quantum computer.
Build a circuit
Each column is a step, applied left to right. Pick a gate for each qubit in each step. For a CNOT, set one qubit to control and another to target in the same step. All qubits start at 0 and all are measured at the end.
Probabilities (exact, from the simulated state)
Take shots
Outcome labels read qubit 0 first. The circuit is stored in the web address after the # sign, so it never leaves your browser unless you share the link.
The gates
| Gate | What it does |
|---|---|
| H (Hadamard) | Turns 0 or 1 into an equal superposition. Applied again it undoes itself. |
| X | Flips 0 to 1 and 1 to 0, like a classical NOT. |
| Z | Flips the sign (phase) of the 1 part. It changes no probabilities on its own, but matters when combined with H. |
| CNOT | Flips the target qubit when the control qubit is 1. With H it creates entanglement. |
Things to try
- Interference: load "Interference: H Z H". H, then Z, then H gives 1 every time, the same as X. Without the Z, H then H gives 0 every time. The phase flip changes which answers cancel. This cancelling and adding is interference, the source of any quantum speedup.
- GHZ state: load "GHZ (3 qubits)" to entangle all three qubits. Only 000 and 111 appear.
- Your own: try X on one qubit then a CNOT, and predict the result before you run it.
More background: how a quantum program runs and how a quantum computer works.
How it works: the simulator keeps the exact quantum state of the qubits as a list of numbers, applies each gate to it, then draws random samples from the resulting probabilities. The random numbers are ordinary pseudo random numbers from your browser, and a real device would add noise. No QNT, wallet or account is needed.
