008 Can a Quantum Computer Break My Wallet?
ExplainerPick something you own or use. See, in plain words, what a quantum computer could and could not do to it. No scare tactics.
Explainer in your browser. Nothing on this page runs on a quantum computer or needs an account.
What's happening?
An honest interactive check of what future quantum computers could do to a seed phrase, a Solana wallet, Bitcoin addresses, internet traffic and hashing, with links to the sourced guides. Not security or investment advice.
You will learn: Which parts of crypto a quantum computer could threaten, and which it could not.
How to use this page
Pick one of six things. For each you get what protects it, what a quantum computer could do in theory, where we are today and what you can do. Nothing here predicts a date. Experts disagree on timing, and this page does not claim a machine exists.
The two real quantum threats
- Shor's algorithm could in theory work out a private key from a public key for elliptic curve and RSA schemes, which are used for blockchain signatures and for key exchange in encryption.
- Grover's algorithm speeds up searching, but only by a square root, which is why hashing and mining are much less affected.
What about QNT?
QUANTUM (QNT) is a community token on Solana. It does no quantum computation and has no quantum protection of its own. Like every Solana token, it relies on Solana's Ed25519 signatures. If Solana upgrades its signatures, tokens benefit. If it does not, they share the risk. QNT is not affiliated with Quantinuum (Nasdaq: QNT) or Quant Network (QNT on Ethereum).

This lesson uses no simulator. It is an explainer with interactive cards, and nothing on it runs on a quantum computer.

This is an educational simulator, not financial advice. QUANTUM (QNT) is an independent community token on Solana and does not perform quantum computation.
